School To Work Program

The School-to-Work Program at MAUHS provides students with community-based learning experiences such as employability skills and career exploration. This helps prepare students for further education and careers. The Community-Based Learning experiences offered to students are: Community Service and Field Study. The School-to-Work Office also serves as a resource for educators to connect with the business community.

Community Service

Community service is available as a 90 minute or 50 minute class (3140) during the school day or can be scheduled for after school hours in local schools and agencies. Students are expected to participate in the selection of appropriate placements. They should consider what type of service they can provide to a local agency or school and what skills they would like to gain or improve. An application will need to be completed by potential participants. Space may be limited and a committee consisting of the program coordinator, coordinator of Counseling Services and administration may select eligible students from the application pool.

Field Study

The objective of this community-based learning experience is to allow students to spend a semester gaining career experience in local businesses or agencies. Students will become involved in setting up their own goals, sites, and outcomes. Space may be limited and a committee consisting of the program coordinator, coordinator of Counseling Services and administration may select eligible students from the application pool.
