American Sign Language

The goal of the American Sign Language Club is to increase interest of students and staff who would like to learn how to better communicate with people who are Deaf, hard of hearing, or have difficulties with the English language. ASL is a visual language and is the third most-used language in the U.S. today. Members of the club would learn how the Deaf Culture originated, learn to analyze Deaf expressions and emotions, learn keys to identify the clarity of the message being conveyed, and learn how the Deaf interact with each other compared to those that are hearing. Another goal would be to fundraise money for Deaf organizations and to participate in trips or events.
